Church HIV prayer cure claims put lives at risk – Evangelicals
The Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) has warned pastors against preventing their followers living with HIV and Aids from accessing treatment saying the tendency defeats the efforts to reduce HIV infection in the country.
among other things aims at ensuring that over 90 percent of those living positively with the virus access the drugs and contribute effectively to the country’s socio-economic development of the country.
“So it is ‘illogical’ for prelates to bar people living with HIV from taking drugs as currently there is no cure for the disease. Pastors should pray for the sick and at the same time encourage the followers to continue taking drugs if Malawi is to make progress in the fight against HIV and Aids,” said Manyetera.
