Court remands to prison 3 over Kottana’s ‘termik’ death

Three suspects have been remanded for another week by  court in Lilongwe in connection with the death of Kottana Chidyaonga.

Diana Bhagwanji : Remanded to prison
Kottana Chidyaonga died of Termik poisoning, not from snake bite

The Chief Resident Magistrate has remanded Timothy Mtilisanje (28) , Gilbert Kamaliza (29) and Diana Bhagwanji  (23).

The three were remanded on Tuesday January 21, 2020 and are answering murder charge.

They will be on remand up to 4 February 2020 as the State works out on paperwork to commit the case to the High Court.

The State through police prosecutor  Inspector Griffin Luhanga pleaded with the court to give them a one-month period  on remand.

But the defence counsel comprising; Counsel Charles Mhone, Manuel Theu and Kwima Nchizi pleaded for one week.

Apparently, Chief Resident Magistrate Violet Chipawo has  given the State 14 working days to complete the committal processes.

The three were arrested on 14 January 2020 following a forensic autopsy report conducted and release by Dr. Charles Dzamalala at Kamuzu Central Hospital.

Initially, Kottana was reported to have been bitten by a venomous snake at her boyfriend’s (Timothy Mtilisanje) house dying the night of 3-4 January 2020.

The released report reveals there could be foul play in the events that led to Kottana’s death.

Police are also following leads implicating other prominent figures.

Timothy Mtilisanje hails from Mkungula village in Zomba while Gilbert Kamaliza and Diana Bhagwanji are from Likoma and Zomba respectively.

I wonder why both the prosecution and the defence are missing a crucial profession in this case, a herpetologist, people who Study snakes and other reptiles. If a snake indeed bit the deceased to death, a herpetologist can confirm or deny that, after examining the snake presented by the defendants to the hospital and also by comparing the expected snake bite symptoms from the snake in question to the symptoms found on the deceased’s body. A herpetologist can literally end this case for the defendants if they are truly innocent, or it can be the nail in the coffin for… Read more »

Eventually they are going to be accquitted. There was a snake, she called her mother saying she was bitten by a snake, she was a drug user explaining the presence of temik in her system. there are innocent and once they prove that through the courts with an independent autopsy heads are going to roll. careers are going to end with lawsuits. Totally unfair this youngsters are being punished for something they had no control over.

Eti eti. Punishment yake atati azizagwira community service kunyumba kwako moyowako onse….kkkkk. She is reminding me of cash gate beauty Savala. Kaya anatuluka kaya.
But a lesson to ladies is much as prisons have a harsh environ to any prisoner but they are extremely bad for ladies especially the young and beautiful. So think twice before committing or being found near a crime scene.

Rich kids business indeed. No doubt the Nyaope drug is at the centre of this, hence the termik connection. Was this a self overdose, then why try to conceal it a snake bite? Rich kids think like mice.
