The donation was made under the banner “Hand in Hand”, an initiative founded by the two entertainers,  DJ Wayne and ” Nkuwe” hit maker Provoice.

Speaking during the ceremony,  DJ Wayne said the idea came after being diagnosed with diabetes hence the primary target was the diabetes ward.

“Me and Provoice have a special interest and a common goal. I have been coming to KCH for my medication and noticed how people were struggling.

“On the other hand, Provoice came in because his father also succumbed to diabetes years ago. We understand the hospitals needs a lot but we had to do what we could,” DJ Wayne explained.

According to DJ Wayne, 46 beneficiaries received the donation which was mobilized through a two week social media campaign.

He added: “We also wanted to cheer our friends, share the little we have and celebrate Kamuzu Day in style.”

KCH  deputy director Mable Chinkhata hailed the donation, saying it would go a long way.

“We are very grateful, especially for the medicine. We hope other individuals and organizations will emulate this great example,” she said.

Concurring with Chinkhata, one of the beneficiary Madalitso Yohane said he was delighted and grateful for the gesture.
