DPP’s Mchacha hits at MCP for launching manifesto amid flood effects

Deputy Minister of Homeland Security, who is also ruling Democrtaic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor for the south, Charles Mchacha on Sunday  lashed  at opposition Malawi Congress Party  (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera for holding a grand manifesto launch at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe  while Malawians are still mourning people who have lost lives due floods.

Mchacha: MCP should have not launched manifesto when we have flood disaster

Incessant rains last  week washed away crops, roads, destroyed buildings and killed about 26 people in nine districts of Blantyre, Thyolo, Mulanje, Phalombe, Salima, Nkhotakota, Karonga, Mangochi and Zomba.

Speaking in Zomba when he escorted DPP runningmate Everton Chimulirenji to distribute relief items to people, Mchacha said it was sad to see MCP dinning and winning forgetting the suffering of people.

“MCP was supposed to postpone the manifesto launch and side with the affected people,” he said.

However,  MCP president on the same day donated K2 million  to the disaster response while his runningmate Sidik Mia donated K1 million and other party officials also pumped their money in aid of the victims.

  1. Lower shire not even mentioned on the list of districts affected by the floods though, there was a video clip that showed devastating floods after Kamuzu bridge as you go towards thabwa. The situation must be worse down stream towards Chiromo and further down to Nsanje boma.

    2015/16 you were in power when a similar flood occurred, what have you done to minimize the impact?

  5. About Many people with albibism have been killed or abducted, wounded and memed. Are there lives less important than those who have been killed in the floods. You think fllods have come for you to campaign.

  8. My advice to Mchacha is for him to shut up if he has nothing better to say. Indeed we have floods and associated effects. Should everything stop because of this sad development?

    Please direct your effort instead to taming your hoodlums plying our roads without legal number plates

  10. Has DPP stopped developmental meetings while Albinos are being killed? Kungoti APM wakalamba and is failing to campaign and akunamizila ma floods. It is evident that DPP is losing stream and there is no way DPP is going to win the elections.

  15. DPP was busy kudzala miyala komanso kutsegula mipopi ma albino akuphedwa. Ataona kuti anzathu a chi albino akugwilizana zokayenda kumseu munawagawa nkukakumana ndi ogalukira anzawo. So does mchacha has the strength to blame MCP.? Ndiye kuti mwazi wa ma albino sukukuopsani?

  17. Mchacha ndi munthu wopanda nzeru. While he and Chimulirenji were making their rants using taxpayer money and making promises that if fulfilled will use tax payer money, MCP actually made a donation using voluntarily sourced money.

  25. MCP came almost amongst the first groups of people in condoling the deceased families and gave relief funds to the same! I could foretell that if MCP went ahead to visit the affected sites to donate what they had solicited, this stinky DPP and Mchacha including APM would have been saying MCP is politicizing the disaster!!
