DPP’s Tembenu condemns attacks on party new entrants

Main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)  acting secretary general Samuel Tembenu  has taken a swipe at some party officials who have launched attacks on newcomers in the party.

Tembenu: Let’s welcome all of them with open arms

This follows the recent joining into the party by former Reserve Bank of Malawi governor Dalitso Kabambe who was welcomed with mixed feelings.

Tembenu says 2021 has started on an exciting note with the DPP membership attracting technocrats,  professionals and other groups into our fold, saying this is a welcome development.

“Let’s welcome all of them with open arms and without reservations.  I pray that our personal prejudices and preferences should at this point in time be put aside.

“It’s time to rebuild the Party and attracting new members is one way of that rebuilding,” he said.

Tembenu said it was in this respect that he discouraged and dissuaded those who out of personal interest and preferences have mounted unnecessary attacks on others for joining the party and expressing an interest in leadership.

I remember Salim Bagus joined DPP the same way like Dalitso abambe but was denied and told to start from the Area Branch, so why not applying the same rule on Kabambe

It the same people from these districts who brought tribalism in Malawi. No job for anyone outside the Lomwe Belt (Zomba, Mulanje, Thyolo, Mulanje, Chiradzulu). Munatilapitsa and you will never come back.

Point of correction “Tribalism is the brain child of MCP now disguised as an alliance”. Who doesn’t know that during the one party era all appointments were given to people from Central region? People from the South got crumbs which fell under the table because Kamuzu had no choice after having his residence in the south. Talk of the North, they were treated like foreigners. They were arrested or killed like animals. The Eastern region was even worse. The whole village was torched, the occupants incarcerated at Dzaleka prison camp in Dowa. Crocodiles were even kept solely to feed fellow… Read more »

Tembenu is another Thyolo guy though raised up in Salima… We expect nothing from him. He was nepotistically appointed APM’s lawyer and being very close to him, he nothing to offer apart from strengthening the Thyolo base, by propelling Dalitso Kabambe’s candidature.

What’s wrong with one coming from Thyolo or associating themselves with the highly educated APM, you stupid bastard? This country is failing to move forward because of negativity-ladden mentalities like yours. We have never heard about your district or tribe because there’s nothing worth writing about, you can begin today to make a positive impact.
