Ex-Blantyre legislators Kaphuka, Kachingwe recycle themselves in UTM

Former legislators in Blantyre Samuel Kaphuka and Nicholous Kachingwe have   joined the UTM Party of immediate past vice president Saulos Chilima.

Kaliati welcomes Kaphuka and Kachingwe (L)

Kaphuka, the former Member of Parliament for Blantyre West besides being the proprietor of Kaphuka Private Schools, was welcomed in UTM by the party secretary general Patricia Kaliati at a rally Chilima addressed on Sunday.

The rally was held at Njamba Freedom Park and was televised live.

Also welcomed was Kachingwe, formerly a legislator for Blantyre –Lunzu.

Both Kaphuka and Kachingwe were in the United Democratic Front (UDF) administration and Kaphuka served as deputy minister of educations.

“We have joined UTM to advance the mission of the party. We are many of us who have joined UTM,” Kaphuka said.

“In you Chilima, we have seen quality leadership,” he added.

The two have changed parties since then with Kaphuka being the most nomadic politican having joined People’s Party, then Malawi Congress Party (MCP) before joining the UTM.

Both Kaphuka and Kachingwe, who contested the May 21 Tripartite Elections and lost, said UTM offers that hope for the national development.

The leadership of that UTM is very myopic and no wonder that the party is infested by recycled and clueless ex UDF politicians. What do you think the retirees like Kaphuka and Kachingwe bring to your stupid party? Have you not learnt any lesson from the recent elections when the entire UTM high table fell into oblivion?

Obviously without the use of Tippex UTM could have won the Election.

We know already that all 10 Districts where Tippex was used the Votes were for Chilima and his UTM party.

Only insane people don’t know this simple equation MEC did . Now that re-run is obvious going to happen, let’s wait and see who the true winner will be.
We don’t need blind loyalty to DPP in this era, I was once a die hard DPP member but not any more.
The DPP party is full of crookes now, not my type.

Shame on you. Chilima conceded defeat by APM and so he did congratulated him but now he says APM did not win. What kind of a leader is this? Does he walk with the spirit of God as we knew him before or he is filled with jelous as is the case with fellow loser. Time for will come for now lets hold hands and develop our mother Malawi

Firstly I like your good English “Truth Pains” tell them. People just talk things without even giving it a good thought. I come from the same area where the DPP President comes from BUT it’s sad indeed to see that blind loyalty. Nothing tangible that can make people say that well I’m proud that the President is my home boy not that that in essence he is supposed to develope more his home area but it just prove hiw hopeless is the leadership. Like him or hate him BzuT Chilima is a guy with a vision in all what he… Read more »

Chilima lacks a clear political strategy.. He wants to create anarchy in this country. He doesn’t have a word in Parliament..

Pretty well inconsequential in terms of news or even national significance as UTM has no chance of becoming the Official Opposition after the 2024 elections. Makatani awa atha kale (already).
Why is Akweni wasting her time this way, anyway?
