FA Malawi’s Walter seeks to maintain Cosafa post
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) President, Walter Nyamilandu, has confirmed that he will seek re-election as executive committee member of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) when elections take place at Sun City in Rustenberg, South Africa on December 17.
“I will seek to renew my post of executive committee membership,” Nyamilandu said.
Cosafa will hold an indaba Saturday where the office-bearers for the next five years will be determined.
Elections will be held to decide the positions of president, vice-president and for the executive committee.
COSAFA chief operations officer Sue Destombes said three nominations for the position of president were received and these are for incumbent Suketu Patel of the Seychelles,, South African Football Association president, Danny Jordaan and Zimbabwe Football Association president, Philip Chiyangwa.”
There are also three nominees for the position of Vice-President- Advocate Salemane Phafane from Lesotho, Frans Mbidi of Namibia and Chiyangwa.
Other officials eyeing Cosafa executive committee membership are Pedro Neto (Angola), Mclean Letshwidi (Botswana), David Fani (Botswana), Sameer Sobha (Mauritius), Alberto Simanga (Mozambique), John Muinjo (Namibia), Timothy Shongwe (Swaziland) and Andrew Kamanga (Zambia).
