First ever Malawi Achievers Awards – South Africa slated for July 9: Tay Grin, Fredokiss to perform alongside Zimbabwe’s Buffalo Souljah
Organisers of the inaugural Malawi Achievers Awards – South Africa (MAA-SA) have confirmed that Malawi’s hip hop giants Tay Grin and Fredokiss will headline the first edition slated for July 9 at Scarlet Ribbon in Johannesburg.
According to Samuel Mwale,Managing Director of Mbiri Events, the organisation running the entire event, all is set and people should expect the best of the night.
“We have taken a great step and we have involved local acts. This is a grand gesture for Malawi and we have decided to honour Malawi in style this coming month as we award individuals who have been extraordinary towards the well-being of people in Malawi and South Africa,” he said.
Other artists billed to perform on the night include Janta, Nesnes, Don Zagah and a surprise guest.
“We also wanted to give a corporate platform to local artists to fly to South Africa and entertain the audience on this great night. So apart from Tay Grin and Fredokiss, we also have Janta and Nesnes joining Malawians with their appearance,” explained Mwale.
Among others, the event is expected to award individuals in the following categories, entertainment, sports, academic, social welfare as well as good will.
The diaspora awards started in UK where it is has so far hosted three editions.
The South African event will take place in Edenvale at the Scarlet Ribbon, a place that’s popular for hosting big corporate events. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Scarlet Ribbon is a very small place. The writer does not know Johannesburg. Corporates in South Africa use popular venues such as Emperor’s Place, Gold Reef City, Sandton Convention Centre etc. Don’t be cheated. We know Johannesburg better. Scarlet Ribbon is a nothing.
does it matter how much you know Johannesburg? thats all you Malawians know! bring the other one down! are you nor ashamed of yourself?
osamanamiza anthu. Scarlet Ribbon doesn’t feature as a top corporate venue.
