Fr. Mtambo abandons flock for DPP

Politics has taken better side of chairperson for Clergy Initiative for Integral Development (CIID) Anglican priest Fr Michael Mtambo who has now abandoned his flock at an Anglican parish in Balaka and IS now devoted his energies to supporting ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Fr. Mtambo camps at Mlambe Motel with some members of his group, Rev Richard Padambo and Sheikh Abudu Ali in the name of strategizing for the ruling DPP.

“I can confirm that the three have been staying at Mlambe Motel. They have been seen with lots of paperwork. They also frequently travel to Lilongwe to meet government and DPP officials for funding of their activities,” another member of the CIDE told Nyasa Times. The member is disgruntled because he is not enjoying the money his friends get from DPP.

Fr Mtambo: DPP work

Fr. Mtambo was also quoted on state controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday backing President Bingu wa Mutharika remarks that Satan had indeed fallen on Malawi.

Mtambo said Mutharika’s statement showed that the president reads and understands the Bible.

Meanwhile, an Anglican priest from the Upper Shire diocese of the Anglican Church said some Christians at Mtambo’s parish have raised concern with Bishop Brighton Malasa that their priest is not available at the parish.

“But I doubt if Malasa will do anything because he is also Bingu’s supporter. In fact, Malasa and Mtambo are now friends because Mtambo is now a DPP operative,” the priest said.

Fr. Mtambo refused to comment on the reports.
