German envoy warns Malawi on electoral violence

German Ambassador Jurgen Borsh has cautioned Malawi against eroding the reputation of peace it has maintained over the years – as the Warm Heart of Africa.

Borsch: Nobody should put reputation for peace that Malawi has at risk

Borsh said the seven months  leading up to the watershed  May 21 2019 Triparite elections should be violence free.

“I call upon all sides to ensure mutual respect from democratic  rights, conduct a non violent campaign for a free and fair election, conduct a non violent campaign  for a free and fair election.

“Nobody should put reputation for peace that Malawi has at risk,” said Borsch on Wednesday evening in Lilongwe at a ceremony ti mark 28 years of German Unity.

The diplomat said it was his hope that candidates and registered voters would consider the upcoming elections as a competition for the best ideas not personality attacks.
