The bible has a story of a prodigal son which is a perfect example of God’s love towards His children. While as human beings we chose to love those that show loyalty to us, that is not the case with God. “But God demonstrates His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
The prodigal son requested his father to give him a portion of wealth that was his and decided to take a journey into a far country with his riches. This is the condition that God’s children are in. They have taken themselves very far away from God thinking that the possessions they have will be enough to keep them going than God. Sin will always take you further than you want to go, and cost you more than you can afford to pay. How dangerous it is to live outside of God.
And when he had spent all, he began to be in want. This is how the devil works as he will only use and abuse without replenishing. “The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Imagine that this is a son that had never experienced lack as he used to have plenty in the fathers house.
The bible continues to say that he reached a point where he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did it. This is exactly what happens to God‘s children when they have separated themselves from the father. The world will feed you with the husks which will take you far away from God as compared to the original state.
Luke 15:17 states that “he came to himself”, meaning that he was now able to admitted to what he was and where he was. This is where we can realize the need for salvation and being able to see the areas where we were wrong.
The father received him back even though he thought he was not worth to be his son again. Many are in the same situation feeling God can never take them back. Our God is love that He does not see our current situation, as long as we confess and run back to Him. It is only God that can receive us again in this situation as we are very dirty from all we have been doing in the world that is not of God.
In fact, the father requested the servants to bring hither the fattened calf, and kill it and be merry. It is the same even now when the lost go back to the saving knowledge of Jesus. While other things are certainly important, nothing can match a soul being saved. “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner who repents” (John 15:7).Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
