After a long break, one of Malawi’s reknowned and finest gospel artist Bertha Nkhoma-Nyirenda is back in town and on the airwaves with her latest album ‘Dziko ndi Choncho’ currently enjoying massive airplay in various local radio stations.
With eight albums to her credit including the famous ‘Driver Wanga’, but upon listening to her latest release you will without any doubt agree to judge that ‘Dziko ndi Choncho’ is another explosive bomb.
In the title track, Nkhoma Nyirenda is talking about real life issues. It is to do with people who waste their precious time talking ill about others who are advancing in their respective lives.
“When I sing, I sing about real life issues. It may be about me, my family or any other peson and in the song Dziko ndi Choncho, the message I am trying to give out is an encouragement to all the people that are advancing in their lives with blessing from God. When God does something good you need to praise his name and thank him,” narrated the artist in a telephone interview with Nyasa Times on Thursday 19th January 2017.
“But along the way, some people will come up with alot of discouraging vibes. People have talked alot of bad stories about me, they have talked ill about so many people and in the song, I am encouraging myself and those other people excelling in life by telling them Dziko ndi Choncho. People will always talk, this one is satanic ah he or she is evil but that will always happen” said Nkhoma-Nyirenda.
According to the singer, people talk alot of ill stories about others because of jealous and to discourage those who are getting blessed through hard work.
“The moment you hear alot of negative stories about you, just realise that you are excelling in life and a step behind those talking about you and just know that they are unhappy with your achievements because of jealous. I have been a victim and many others aswell but let them
keep talking and that is when I get more blessings,” she said.
She also took time to defend her dancing antics which most judge to be ungodly.
“I dance or I say we gospel artists dance when singing because that is the only moment we fully show our happiness and give thanks to the Lord for the pecious gift of life and blessings nothing much,” Nkhoma Nyirenda explained.
According to the singer who is giffted with a golden voice, although her latest CD is already on the market, the official launch will be held in August.
“The official launch will be in August, I want to make it a double launch together with my DVD to serve time and resources,” she said.
The 12 track album in which two of the songs the artist has featured her daughter Madalitso has been produced by the experienced hands of Joseph Tembo and George Chinunda at Tembo’s Groove Magic Studios.
