Hearts of Compassion: New Apostolic Church Women Bring Hope to Chikwawa Hospital Patients

The Women’s group (Atumwi) from the New Apostolic Church in Dyeratu, Chikwawa District, on Sunday turned faith into action as they visited patients at Chikwawa District Hospital with a message of love — and hands full of gifts.

With radiant smiles and words of encouragement, the women, led by their Chairlady of Sisters Fellowship, Esnart Dinyero, moved through hospital wards sharing Ufa, Soya pieces, salt, and soap to more than 50 patients admitted at the facility.

Speaking during the visit, Dinyero said the donation was an act of living out the teachings of Christ.

“As Christians, we have to do what Jesus Christ taught us — to reach out to people in need with the little that God has blessed us. This is what we have demonstrated today here at the hospital,” she said.

The group spent K500,000 to purchase the assorted items, which brought smiles and relief to patients like Atamelesi Sigalu and Davie Ngulande, who described the gesture as timely and deeply touching.

“It is not easy being in the hospital, but when people remember and visit us like this, it gives us strength and hope,” said Ngulande with gratitude.

Hospital spokesperson Settie Piliminta commended the church women for their compassion and generosity.

“We are truly grateful for this gesture. It means a lot to the patients, and we appeal to other well-wishers and organisations to emulate the example set by the Sisters Fellowship,” said Piliminta.

The day’s event was marked by singing, prayer, and heartfelt interactions between the Atumwi members and the patients — a moving reminder that kindness and faith can be powerful medicine.
