Japanese car dealers Be Forward, who are extending their operations to Malawi, have finally confirmed what Nyasa Times first reported that they have signed a sponsorship deal with Mighty Wanderers FC.
Be Forward, which sells second-hand vehicles, has offered to sponsor the blues for about K70 million per season an agreement of an increment every season.
Announcing to reporters Friday afternoon at Wanderers Football club Lali Lubani Road in Blantyre, Wanderers chairman George Chamangwana said the contract is for 10 years
“We got the sponsorship now. We have what will drive us back to our success ways, its Be Forward with Mighty Wanderers,” said Chamangwa, a legend of the club.
Speaking during the briefing, Chairman of board of trustees, Rashy Gaffar, said it a milestone for the executive to secure the lucrative sponsorship and advised the club to make use of the deal to steer the club back to its old glory.
Gaffar has since urged all Mighty Wanderers supporters to support Be Forward company by buying their products so that they continue sponsoring the team
One of the Malawi football legends who played at Mighty Wanderers from 1973 to 1990, Jack ‘Africa’ Chamangwana urged the executive to look after the players for them to perform.
“The players should be well taken care of. Mighty Wanderers is destined for good future,” he said.
He also urged the team’s management to concentrate much on youth football development and nature new talent.
Nomads were among the three teams competing for the sponsorship. Others were Big Bullets and Epac FC.
