Kananji hails Be Forward Wanderers over players welfare

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers coach Elia Kananji has commended the club’s executive committee for ensuring players welfare throughout the season.

Kananji said at the close of the season Wanderers players were owed just one month arrears in salaries and bonuses.

He said the players welfare played a critical role in motivating players to put up a gallant fight.

This comes in contrast to his tenure at Bullets in which players were owed a lot of money in game and salaries.

“I would like to thank the executive committee because they have done the best to ensure that players are paid on time,” Kananji said.

“They don’t owe us anything because they just have to pay one month of game bonus and upkeep.”

This is contrary to the start of the season when Wanderers were struggling to pay players while the Be Forward sponsorship was being worked on.

This made it difficult for the executive committee as they were made to get the sponsorship in monthly instalments.

Kananji joined Wanderers from rivals Bullets after guiding ending the People’s Team’s TNM Super title nine-year jinx.

He has taken Wanderers to fifth position finish in the league after a troubled second round which dented their quest for a league title.

Kananji has won them the Carlsberg Cup which he won while at Bullets.
