Hygiene Mwendepeka because a hero of the day for Karonga when he planted home  late in the game to register first famous win for Crocodiles .

When the final whistle was blown,  Edson Kadenge Mwafulirwa who was asssisting Wakisa Mwambetania standing in for coach  Kondwani Mwalweni (who was out for a funeral) was off his seat, his hands were in the air and set off on the kind of victory run that had rarely been seen by his side.

“It is a brilliant feeling to beat the champions and our first win could not have been better than this,” Mwafulirwa told Nyasa Times.

During the match Bullets lost  right-back Pilirani Zonda  to a matching orders for insullting language at the referee.

The result sees Karonga United moving up to 14th on the log with 6 points from 9 games while Bullets are stuck on 10th position with 12 points from 7 games.

Elsewhere, in Blantyre Azam Tigers  climbed a step to position five on the TNM Super League table with a deserved point against an uninspiring Wizards FC on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

Both sides played a slow game and not that impressive to a small crowd that turned up for the game.

It was in the second half that Wizard showed they may have the guile to survive the drop, with their goalkeeper  producing a double save from Eliah Munthali.

Yamikani Chester then went agonisingly close with a lobbed effort that dropped the wrong side of the post,

It was perhaps an opportunity missed against a Wizards  side whose performance was sluggish
from start to the end.

Wizards  forced the best saves from Tigers keeper in the 70th minute  but were devoid of ideas,
when they could only muster two shots on target.

The introduction of fresh legs from both sides failed to spark any invention until the last whistle.
