Kinnah tips Mtawali on having ‘stable’ Malawi team squad

Former Malawi national football team coach Kinnah Phiri has added his voice on incumbent coach Ernest Mtawali criticisms on the performance of the team.

Kinnah said the Mtawali should consider to come up with a stable team rather than keeping on reshuffling players since he took over.

But the former Nyasa Bullets and national team legend nevertheless said Mtawali is visionary.

“Technically the coach has the potential. He has a good vision to build but then the manner he has done it is faulty as he appears to lack consistency in the sense that he keeps on changing the squad as a result coordination becomes a problem,,”Kinnah said.

He advised the former midfield maestro to come up with a team.

” I would advise him to come up with a team now. He should also seek advice from experienced coaches such as myself, ” he said.

In a related development Fifa instructor Alejandro Heredia from Argentina who conducted a goalkeeping course for goalkeeper trainers also advised him against rotation of goalkeepers.

He said the situation has been one of the factors affecting the team’s consistency.

Mtawali has been under pressure after failing to win a game in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with a game to go against Swaziland.

Malawi has also been ejected from Cosafa Castle Cup.
