Malawi President Joyce Banda is a “woman of substance”, declared the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, on a three-day official visit, saying “all African women are behind her in her endeavours to getting the country back on track.
Sirleaf made the remarks at a State Banquet in her honour at Kamuzu Palace Saturday evening.
She also said President Banda has progressive plans that will in the long run transform the economy of Malawi.
Sirleaf, first elected African President, claimed that the Malawi leader fits well in the Presidency and that she is committed to leading /the nation to move with global trends of new economies.
“All African women and elsewhere are behind you my sister Joyce. With God behind, you will prevail in troubled situation of this country,” said Sirleaf.
And speaking earlier to journalists, precisely upon her arrival at Kamuzu International Airport, Sirleaf said she will discuss with her counterpart a number of global issues and see how Malawi is fairing in the realisation of the priorities of Malawians and “global outlined issues we cannot ignore.”
” I have also come to belief my sister on issues that were discussed at the just ended African Union (AU) summit in Ethiopia where myself am coming from,” she added.
The Liberian President will on Monday give a public lecture at the Bingu International Conference Centre in the capital city./
