Ndakudziwa, the new album from Afro-R&B singer Lulu & Mathumela Band will not be released in February as planned, his new management company Elegant Resources by ArianaLouise has said.
Early this month, Lulu told Nyasa Times that the long-awaited 10-track CD would be coming out mid February, but his manager, Dawa Loga-Lemberger, revealed Ndakudziwa is scheduled to hit the stores on 05 April instead.
“It’s new management so that’s the new plan. We are yet to release the new single Ndzalela out on radio, currently the song is only available on the internet and it will be going on radio this week,” she told Nyasa Times in an interview.
Loga-Lemberger outlined that mid February is when Ndzalela video is due on MBC TV, with Lulu & Mathumela Band’s album promotional tour kicking-off on Valentine’s Day, which falls on 14 February.
“The promotional tour is all about preparing the new CD launch. We have organized over 10 shows in the month of February. Another set of 10 shows in March leading to the final day which will be the launch,” she revealed.
Among the different places that Lulu & Mathumela Band are scheduled to perform across the country, there are the cities of Blantyre, Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Zomba, as well as Balaka and Karonga districts.
According to the stable, the team is prepared to showcase to the nation their last three albums Mbambande, Kumalembe and Sindilora to rekindle the fans’ love for their music.
The label believes with feedback from Lulu & Mathumela Band Facebook page, it is very clear that Malawians have waited too long to see Lulu and his band take the country on his own as an artist.
“Evidence shows from this page that is barely a week old with almost 3500 fans who have liked it. Lulu’s fans are very active on the page and we can feel that this promotional tour is necessary and long overdue,” said the manager.
Lulu’s latest album has a great presence in the line of storytelling. His voice and a combination of the storyline are captivating, which will rekindle the fan’s love for his music.
All the ten songs on the album were composed and recorded by the singer-cum-producer at Mathumela Studio and with the new album; his label says Malawians should prepare to enjoy Lulu’s independent shows as he performs, dances and showcases his phenomenal band.
Lulu, who many people have described as one of the best musicians on the Malawian music scene, came in the limelight in the early 2000s when he released his pioneering R&B song Magwiragwira.
He has produced for Lucius Banda among many local artists and has also toured with the legendary musician from the early stages of his career.
Elegant Resources by ArianaLouise took over Lulu & Mathumela Band’s management at the beginning of January this year. Other artists under the stable are evicted E-Wallet contestant Goma Nyondo as well as budding gospel musicians Chisomo Ngondo and Adrian.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
