Malawi boy kills girl over ‘child sex’
A boy aged about eight years from Solola Village in Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe has allegedly strangled to death a 5-year old girl from the same village over sex, police confirmed on Wednesday.
Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kanengo Police Station said the two were playing together when the boy started making sexual advances towards the girl but she refused.
According to Chibwana this angered the boy who allegedly strangled the girl causing her to suffocate and die in the process.
“When the boy realized that the girl had stopped breathing, he dragged her body and dumped it into a sw

amp just a few meters away where it was later found,” explained Chibwana.
Meanwhile, the boy is kept in a special cell away from other suspects in custody and according to Chibwana, the minor may not be tried because he falls short of the prosecution age.
“We are charging the boy with murder but section 14 (1) of the Penal Code protects him from prosecution because it says ‘Any person under the age of 10 is not criminally responsible of any act or omission’,” explained Chibwana.
The deceased, whom the police identified as Bertha Douglas, hailed from the same village of Sosola Traditional Authority Chimutu, Lilongwe.
