Malawi dad defiles own daughter, infects her with STDs
Police in Malawi’s eastern district of Balaka is keeping custody a 23 year old man for allegedly defiling his own 3 year old daughter at his home when his wife went to fetch water.
Balaka police publicist, Sub Inspector Joseph Sauka, the victim’s mother was surprised when she noticed that her daughter was walking with difficulties and her examination revealed that the baby has been defiled.
The child told her mother that her father Kambani M’bwana was playing around with her private parts hence feeling pain.
Upon hearing this, the victim’s mother reported the matter to her relatives who told her not to take the issue to Police.
“When the mother heard this, she reported the matter to her relatives but they advised her not to report the matter to police. But considering the age of the child and how she was feeling, the mother reported the matter to our offices which led to the arrest of the suspect,” Sauka explained.
Medical examinations at Balaka district hospital has revealed that the girl was defiled and was also found with sexually transmitted disease.
Sauka said upon interrogating the suspect, it was discovered that M’bwana also defiled the child last year but the issue was not reported to Police.
Meanwhile the suspect is expected to appear before the court soon where he will answer a case of incest which attracts maximum of sentence of life imprisonment once proved that the female person is under the age of thirteen years.
Kambani M’bwana comes from Chikolorere village, Tradtional Authority Sawali in Balaka district.
