Malawi defender Sangala offloaded by Angola top league side
Flames defender James ‘Shareholder’ Sangala has been laid-off at has been released by Angola top league side, Benfica de Luanda six months after he signed a two-year contract extension following the expiry of his earlier loan deal from his club of origin Primeiro de Agosto.
Sangala, who is already in country, confirmed the development, saying the new management at the club found his services surplus to requirement.
“My contract has been terminated with the arrival of the new management at the club, who has roped in some new faces. About 14 players have been laid off that including me,” said Sangala.
Sangala stressed that meanwhile all his attention is with the Flames who are preparing for the Cosafa Cup Tournament to kick-off today (Saturday, July 6, 2013) in Lusaka, Zambia.

However, the Flames who were seeded will join the tournament in the quarter finals where they will meet Zimbabwe.
Quizzed on whether he has plans to re-join his former club Mighty Wanderers where he began his career in 2005 before trekking to South Africa to sign for Thanda Royal Zulu in 2006, Sangala said he is considering to hang his boots.
