The team has however dropped just one place in Africa from 25 to 26 and fifth in the Cosafa Region from fourth behind South Africa, Zambia, Angola and Mozambique.

The drop have been attributed to the team’s inactivity since they last played their international game against Ethiopia in the Africa Cup of Nations crucial qualifier on November 19.

Malawi were held to a goalless draw but failed to qualify as Algeria failed to do them a favour by conceding to a controversial 2-0 loss to Mali.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has disclosed that it will line up a friendly game during the Fifa sanctioned days between March  23 to March 31.

The CAF Africa Cup of Nations which was played between  January 19 to 12 played a big role in determining the rankings despite that there was no movement in the top 10.

Ivory Coast have move to 20th in the world and second in Africa having won the Africa Cup of Nations after rising eight places while Ghana losing finalists are on position 25 in the world but third in Africa. Algeria remain the highest ranked team in Africa and 18th in the world.

The problem with Malawi team, you do underate yourselves when playing team like Algeria,Nigeria,Cameroun etc.watchout if you want to earn good positions you have to beat the best not targeting Chad,Lesotho. The major problem is these local coahes how come the coach saying Algeria beat us becoz they are the best, are you serious? If you want to be the best beat the best teams.
