Netizens were busy  mocking Malawi President Peter Mutharika for “officially opening a toilet” after being fooled by some fake news reporter trying to stir up controversy.

Mutharika on Saturday opened Namilonga Community Technical Colleges and during the event he was shown various products students at the institution make including special type toilet equipment.

The President was incidentally captured in one picture from the event shows Mutharika inspecting a toilet equipped with material made by the college students.

The picture has been shared widely on social media and it has become a source of mockery for the Malawian leader.

A Zambian Facebook page posted the image on Monday and claimed that Mutharika was officially opening a toilet.

Many people commenting on the post believed Mutharika was indeed launching a toilet and mocked the Malawi leader saying he was doing the work of a councillor.

“African heads of states. You can’t even delegate over a toilet sure,” said one commenter.

“That’s what I like about Africa. Even a toilet head of state should come and officially open, ahhhh Africa,” chipped another.

While one commenter said: “When its campaign time, you opt to officiate anything. Now toilet. Lol”

Several commenters however condemned the page for posting inaccurate information and clarified that Mutharika was actually opening a community college

  1. Bush plumbers can do that job of assembling the toilet. I need to know what brought the president there

  3. APM is a tiolet as well!! so what makes this fake? didnt this happen or the fact that he was captured inspecting a toilet should have been just good? in fact he was inspecting a toilet indeed! why wasnt he shown other projects being done by the college students? infact the one who led him to that toilet knew he(APM) belongs to a toilet too

  4. Where is the mockery here? He did launch this development program didn’t he? I hope he did a test run. In fact he ought to be proud seeing that all he’s been launching lately are groundbreaking zilizas

  5. When you have people with fake everything, including education qualification, conventions, American accent etc, would one be surprised to hear of fake news originating from them or their disciples? People should know that the president was inspecting the products of the work of the youth of Malawi. Malawians should not forget that the youth were being used by MCP to spread HIV through women camps during Kamuzu Day celebrations and also during Independence Celebrations.
Bravo APM for transforming Malawi Youth into productive citizens right on their soil.

    1. You are a useless creature of all the people here. What does this concern MCP?You are a fool for that matter. Why don’t you just remain silent if you don’t know the topic or the HEADLINE.Stop being passive.

  6. The toilet is an important product and it shows the importance of waste management were a president to open a toilet.

  7. Kkkkkkk. He shouldn’t have been standing there after all the bigger picture is the college opening.

  8. Journalism is supposed to be a profession of people with sound mind and not the way it is being done today. Had it been the Malawian journalists were honouring their president, the Zambians would not find chance to mock our president. See how devastating it becomes it becomes when professional ethics are followed.

  9. hahahaha..just shows the stupidity of our leaders!!!
Malawi will be better off with a younger president.
