Malawi Muslims organise protests over billboard
Some Muslims say they will disregard the Covid-19 preventive measures to take on the streets this week in protests against the removal of a billboard in Blantyre which promoted the reading of the Holy Quran.
The billboard, which said that since people have read the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, they should now read the latest Testament which the billboard said is the Quran.
However, the Evangelical Association of Malawi expressed concern over the message and called for its removal and hours later, it was vandalised by unknown people.
Leader of a group calling itself Concerned Muslims, Ousman Kennedy said among other things, they want the Blantyre City Council to restore the billboard failing which they will also take a legal action despite the planned protests.
He however said the protests will be peaceful as the Muslim community intends to see to it that religious rights are respected in the country.
The protests are expected to take place in all major cities and in Mangochi district.
Minister of Civic Education and Unity has since asked Blantyre city council to apologise to both the Muslims and Christians over the billboard issue.

I think when airtel are advertising their brand they probably will not waste space talking about TNM first, I wonder why the billboard took more space focusing on the Old and New Testaments of the Christian`s Bible than their main subject? Is it a good idea to compare the taste of apples to that of mangoes for instance?
It is no secret that the leaders of Muslim faith are under the DPP/UDF alliance and they will do anything to make Tonse alliance government look bad. The Tonse alliance government has taken a proactive initiatives to protect their interests but being side-chicks of DPP/UDF alliance they will do anything possible to paint a bad picture on the current government. There is lots of evidence to prove that the BCC is under DPP/UDF alliance because most of the workers there are the cadets. This is purely an inside job and the government should leave BCC and the Muslim leaders to sort themselves out.

What ever people. I for one do not see anything wrong with their bill board. We Christians do it all the time, we evangelise to the moslems, satanists, etheists so nothing wrong with them trying to evangelise to us.
But one question to my moslem brothers; is the Quran not supposed to be touched by infidels? So how is it going to be read.

Try to do your Demonstration as Moslems, but you have to know, Christians will do Demonstration after you, That you have to be guaranteed.
The Message on that Billboard was Mockery /Abomination of the highest order /Mtopola/kuwayamba dala akhristu, by referring to their Old and New Testaments comparing to Last Testament, which you say is Koran.
The more you think of Demonstration, the more you prompt Christians to not leave this Billboard mockery let it die down.

Governments of all levels should stop promoting any religion on Goverment lands which includes posters and banners this would have avoided all this nonsense. Each religion has its place of worship banners and posters of this type belong in church lands.
