Malawi Olympic Committee consults affiliates ahead of Commonwealth Games
Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) over the weekend held a meeting with its affiliates in Blantyre to brainstorm on preparations for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games scheduled for Scotland later this year.
MOC President, Oscar Kanjala, said the meeting was one of a series of meetings they have been holding with the affiliates since last year ahead of the games, which are held every four years.
“These are normal meetings we normally have with our affiliates to find out what they are doing in their respective associations in preparation for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games,” Kanjala said.

“This is Commonwealth Games year so we need to work closely with our affiliates especially those earmarked to represent the country at the games.”
Cycling Association of Malawi official Jimmy Kadewere applauded MOC for holding such meetings with affiliates describing them as beneficial to the associations as well as the country.
“MOC is doing well to consult the affiliates so that we should plan together as we prepare for the Commonwealth Games,” he said.
Scotland offered to provide 44 return air tickets for the Malawi delegation which would help in increasing the number of participants at the quad-annual games.
