Airtel Malawi, the sponsors of Malawi Queens netball side have said they are impressed with the team’s performance at the on going Glasgow commonwealth games.
The company’s country director Andrew Santhe told reporters in Lilongwe when he held a joint news conference with Netball Association of Malawi president Rose Chinunda.
“Truth be told that the Queens have proved to be a high towering pride of Malawi. Everywhere they go, Malawi is assured of impressive performance and results, they deserve the best from us all,” he said.
Airtel Malawi sponsors the Queens with the initial record K360 million sponsorship package.
“Airtel wants this partnership to power the Queens to break the top four world ranking. It is possible, very achievable so long our togetherness stands with purpose driven pillars. They should really count on us,” he said adding that the company will award the team upon arrival.
Chinunda said as an association, they are hopeful that better things are yet to come from Scotland.
“Though they had no friendly games, our girls are doing fine. With positive support from all of us, they will surely do great things,” she said.
Of all the games played so far, Chinunda said the loss from Jamaica came as a surprise because all along they had all the confidence of beating them.
