Malawi trainee teachers go five months without pay
About 700 trainee teachers deployed to various districts nationwide from Lilongwe Teachers Training College (LTTC) under the Open Distance Learning (ODL) and Initial Primary Teacher Education (IPTE) programmes have gone five months without pay.
Spokesperson Manfred Ndovi attributed the situation to erratic funding to LTTC and says things will be normal soon.
Ndovi pointed out that it is most likely that they will get their full dues this month end.
However, the Ministry of Finance has said that it is not aware of the situation.
Ministry of Finance spokesperson Nations Msowoya said Treasury is yet to be informed about the situation.
The trainees are in Salima, Mangochi, Mchinji and Lilongwe districts and were deployed last September.

So disappointing, wn de supervisors come they ask 4 resources. By de way, hw can one deliver wth empty stomach? Think of de IPTE7 &ODL2 qualified teachers, since May last yr without pay.

A ACB ikuenera kufufuza pamenepa. Ukati uxapite ku xukulu ndi cholinga coti ukaxake ya xopo, ma head ndi ma payer, sikukutukwana kwake. Zoona kuvala tie ngati zilibwino pomwe alibe kalikoxe komaxo xanadye. A ipte 7 akhala pafupi fupi 6months without pay. Vuto akulu akulu ali ku education ndi khalamba zokha zokha. Ministry of finance you are big crooks, are you not aware that these teachers were at TTC after that need pay, such excuses are foolish. This is the fourth month teaching without pay,am just coming from college, you gave us the same, you are not aware. Tell us the truth, that you don’t have money. Stop torturing teachers please, for you to be you today ,its a teacher.
