Malawian girl shines at Britain’s talent show: Open Mic UK 2012
A UK based Malawian girl, Sharon Tembo, from Wigan has been given the big thumbs up by judges at the Open Mic UK auditions.
Along with other impressive acts, Sharon has made it through to the Regional Finals and will now be performing at the live stages of the prestigious talent competition after beating off thousands of others at the audition stage.
The Open Mic UK 2012 is the national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material.
The Malawian girl is set to compete for a place in the National Final at The O2 arena in London early next year.
Tembo told Nyasa Times that she as “excited” to be in the final stategs of the largest singing competition in the UK.
She said “I am excited as singing is my passion.”
Open Mic UK is revered for spotting unsigned talent across all genres.
The competition is divided into age categories; 16 and under, 17-22 and 23 and over; all types of singers, vocal performers, groups and acoustic singer/songwriters are invited to enter Open Mic UK.
Its latter stages provide acts with the opportunity to impress guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry.
