Malawi’s College of Medicine to hold bed race for fundraising

Com Assistant Registrar for Administration Martin Matulu said the college would be expecting to raise money from the participating teams.

He said teams to be sponsored by companies are expected to pay K300,000 each to participate in the event.

He appealed to companies and individuals to support the cause as the College has been playing a big role in improving the health sector by training medical doctors and high qualified medical workers.

“College of Medicine is important as far as the training of medical personnel including medical doctors is concerned. So it is important to celebrate the 25 years that the college has contributed to the training of medical personnel not only for the country  but also international students,” Matululu said.

The bed race will be held alongside wheelchair race and among high profile guests to the event is the Mayor of the City of Blantyre Noel Chalamanda, who is also a reputable lawyer.

what a shame that the opportunity to promote philanthropic values is tainted with casual sexual banter instead of highlighting the benefit for this cause! moderators seem to concern themselves with vested interest issues or indeed their paymasters’ wallet rather than freedom of expression and helping those in dire need. Is this the kind of society we want to live in? am sure your publication’s circulation figures would be answer to that!

You have missed a very important point, the venue of the event. I would not say that’s is very grave compared to the following unpardonable omission. You have not indicated where the beds would be sourced from. If the beds are from the College of Medicine, it would also be interested to know how many tens of times have lustful students moaned on these beds while playing sex. We want to know if they are still strong even to be used for the race, after heavy usage by pounding and grinding by libidious students
