Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has asked President Peter Mutharika to consider reshuffling his 20 member cabinet and drop outspoken Minister of Gender, Patricia Kaliati for bringing government into disrepute.

The call was made by MCP spokeswoman Jessie Kabwila at a news conference held in Lilongwe on Wednesday.

Kabwila accused Kaliati of making crass remarks against leader of opposition Lazarus Chakwera at a ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) rally in Thyolo at the weekend.

She claimed Kaliati who spoke at the rally attended by President Mutharika and beamed on tax –funded MBC television, referred to Chakwera as a biblical figure, Lazarus who was raised from the dead, and should wait for next life to govern Malawi.

Kabwira appealed to Mutharika to consider cabinet reshuffle and drop Kaliati, saying her conduct will “decampaining him.”

The MCP spokeswoman said Kaliati need to go for “an IQ check.”

Said Kabwila: “Can she [Kaliati] hold a ministry if the best she can do is to insult people?”

Kabwila said DPP is resorting to insulting political opponents because they have failed to govern and that “they were not the people who were elected by Malawians.”

Presidential spokesman Gerald Viola has since dismissed the call for cabinet reshuffle, saying it will not be entertained by President Mutharika.

Viola also backed Kaliati, saying she was only expressing her concerns and opinion.

He countered Kabwila by saying that the MCP spokesman is the most foul-mouthed politician than Kaliati.

Had it been there was blood shed because of that stupid lecture you proudly defend as academic freedom, the guy would have been included on ICC’s list for insinuating violence that could have claimed many innocent lives. This lady misled many people she works with, she is just so stupid and she thinks she is the only champion. She was responsible for all those UNIMA stand offs that led to the abuse of our taxes in the name of salaries given to those people who were not working at all in the name of academic freedom and yet they pounce on everyone deemed abusing the tax payers money through their dubious expertise. There was total chaos at UNIMA with Jessie there and now MCP is in because of this educated bitch. Can you imagine every useless thing= press conference. You think Chakwera can run away from attacks from the electorate and those who hold opposite views against his? Ask obaba oTembo, he had been attacked so fiercely but he had never done such a stupid thing of calling for unnecessary press conferences. She is troublesome to the extent of organizing a group of finales to boo Bingu at one of the UNIMA congregational gatherings at COM hiding behind academic freedom. She is very useless, did anyone asked for her mental rating? She was even attacking JB masquerading as an activist while deep down was campaigning for Kongilesi in the same vain Dulani is doing, did anyone forced her to go for an IQ test? May be the problem is not Jessie but the college she went to, it produces useless people that are failing to bail us out of our chilling poverty because they are busy taken up with trivia stuff. Remember the other guy who took an injunction against a certain CSOs’ street march of 20th July 2011, these stupid fools bayed for the blood of the lawyer who represented the guy and commanded law society to revoke his license.
