Mimosa Sisters champs of Airtel Money Northern Region Netball Trophy

Mzuzu’s Mimosa Sisters are this year’s winners of Northern Region Airtel Money Netball Trophy after beating 17 other teams from 8 districts.

They went home with K1 million cash prize and a trophy courtesy of leading mobile network provider Airtel Malawi.

Mimosa beat Young Sisters with 21 baskets to 18 at the finals held at the Katoto Sports Complex in the City of Mzuzu.

General Secretary of National Netball Association of Malawi Carol Bapu said during the presentation ceremony that the tournament “helped identify new talent who will be features in the junior as well as senior national netball teams.”

Airtel Money Product and Development Manager Bigboy Makoloma said they will “continue supporting netball in the country.”

Young Sisters came second and got half a million kwacha. Third and fourth were Karonga Sisters and Malongo Sisters from Rumphi. They got K300 000 and K200 000 respectively.

According to Makoloma, the national finals for Airtel Malawi Netball Trophy will take place from 28-30 May at Katoto Sports Complex in Mzuzu.
