Miss Lilongwe donates towards maternity award
Leticia Matache, recently crowened Miss Lilongwe, has started her work on a good note with a donation of assorted medical equipment towards Nthondo Health Centre in the capital Lilongwe last week.

During the presentation ceremony, attended by hundreds of people including expectant mothers, Matache urged would-be mothers to always follow medical advice for safe deliveries and healthy lives.
She also took on the youths, urging them to refrain from sordid behaviours such as smoking and alcohol abuse.
“Instead, you must focus on education,” she advised.
The donation was part of the prize that the Lilongwe queen got from the presidential initiative on safe motherhood.
Presidential initiative on safe motherhood representative Timothy Bonyonga advised, during the function, that mothers “should always use medical centres for safe deliveries.”
Group Village Headmen Nthondo thanked Matache for the “timely donation.”
Miss Lilongwe is expected to launch and outline a ten point project at the end of this month.
These projects will focus on youth participation in development, entrepreneurship, girl and child education.

The last time I checked on the Health Map of Lilongwe, Nthondo Health Centre was not in the Capital’s border. Unless you tell me that the whole of Lilongwe is the capital, then I will agree. Otherwise, I would Nthondo Health Centre in Lilongwe rural
Ive never seen a country that promote poverty so much like this poorest country in the world. All this promotion and publicity at the expense of the vulnerable poor people is disgusting and perpertuating poverty.
Malawi is small, we need to get organised and stop this nonsense. Govt should civic educate people and go flat out and reduce this poverty and poverty mentality. Bring infrastructure, jobs and education to the masses.
