Minister Chipungu pledges support for Lucheza Town under national development plan
Malawi’s Minister of Lands and Urban Development, Chimwemwe Chipungu, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development in line with the Malawi 2063 National Development Agenda.

Chipungu made the comments in Thyolo district, after discussing strategic initiatives for local and sustainable development with the Lucheza Municipal Council management team.
Chipungu, who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, said the government would ensure Lucheza Town was adequately equipped and modernised as part of Malawi’s plans for developing secondary cities.
“Our priority is to ensure that Lucheza Town is not left behind but equipped, modernised and strategically positioned to achieve sustainable growth,” he said.
He said the government remained committed to implementing initiatives that would help transform Malawi into a developed and prosperous nation.
“We will continue to drive progress and implement initiatives that contribute to the achievement of Malawi 2063 goals,” he said.
Malawi 2063 is the country’s long-term development vision, which seeks to transform Malawi into a wealthy, self-reliant and industrialised nation.
