Newly enthroned Inkosi ya Makosi Mmbelwa V of Mzimba has appointed five eminent Ngonis to be his advisors.

The 29 year old Mkhosi Jere, was installed Paramount Chief M’mbelwa the fifth during a colourful coronation ceremony at his Edingeni Headquarters in Mzimba district on Saturday.

He has appointed   Dean Lungu, former board chairman of conglomerate Press Corporation Limited (PCL0, High Court judge Dingiswayo Madise to be in the advisory council.

Other advisors include Peter Nkosi, Dan Jere and Dr Felix Jere.

The Chieftaincy said the council will be advising the Ngoni king “in all traditional and cultural matters pertaining to the well being of all the people of Mzimba.”

  2. You are dealing with Ngonis (abeNguni) and not Tumbukas.
    Not everyone from the North is Tumbuka.
    Tumbukas too are human beings and deserve their respect, like Tongas, Nyakyusas, Ndalis, Ngondes, etc. But if you are speaking of the Mzimba Kingdom, you are dealing with the Ngonis, who have links to the Maseko Ngonis of Ntcheu, Dedza, Neno and other places.
    The Ngonis of Nchisi/Dowa are the Zwangendaba Ngonis like their brothers and sisters in Mzimba. They are linked to Zulu Gama Ngonis in Songeya, Tanzania, and Mpezeni Ngonis in Chipata, Zambia.
    The simplistic and regionalistic view of calling every Northerner ‘Tumbuka’ is not helpful. It is patronising and does not give respect to the regional diversity of the beautiful North, where one can still find natural forests and breathe fresh air.

I wonder why the council is comprised of the Tumbukas when in actual fact he is mfumu which will also be required to be advised issues of other sectors other than the northern region and to exclude other races in the council thats selfishness it just potrays life style of the Tumbukas ans Livingstonia synod is comprised of Tumbukas only.
