MTL appoints youthful Imaan acting CEO
The board of directors of Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL), country’s only fixed-line operator, has appointed Elias Imaan as acting chief executive officer with effect from 25 April 2012.
According to a statement from MTL, since 2008, Imaan held positions of Head of Marketing and Chief Commercial Officer.
“As Chief Commercial Officer, he has been one of the executive members of the company responsible for strategy and policy formulation,” reads the statement signed by Matthews Chikaonda, the board chairperson.
“ In making this appointment the Board is confident that Mr. Imaan will provide the necessary leadership to the rest of management and staff to take Malawi Telecommunications Limited to greater heights,” the statement added.
Imaan has replaced Charles Tchuka who was recently appointed by President Joyce Banda as Reserve Bank of Malawi governor.
The youthful Imaan also worked for Southern Bottlers where he frequently interacted with the media.
