Mulli,  DPP gurus preach issue-based campaign in North Malawi

The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)  executive members Wednesday asked all political parties in the country to practice violence free and issue-based campaign in preparation for the July 2, 2020 fresh presidential election.

Speaking in Mzuzu during an interactive meeting with the party’s districts’ and constituencies’ officials drawn from northern region, DPP’s Secretary General, Greselder Jeffrey said the party would urge its supporters to desist from any form of violence and focus on telling people what the party intends to do to develop the region.

“This is time for us to start selling to people our development agenda rather than wasting time in propagating political violence or hate speeches.

“People will vote for us if we address development issues which they face in their localities,” said Jeffrey.

She then asked opposition political parties to emulate the gesture set by the governing party to also urge their supporters to stick to issue-based campaign.

“President Peter Mutharika is a mature president who is peace-loving and always preaches peace as evidenced by his calmness despite various provocations from the opposition front.

“As a nation, we need to have such leaders for continued development of the country,” she said.

DPP Regional Governor for the north, Christopher Mzomera Ngwira then urged the party’s leaders at both district and constituency levels to be mobilising people to vote for President Peter Mutharika in the fresh poll.

“We need you people to help the president win this election by making sure that you intensify your campaigns

“These positions you were given were not just given for nothing, you need to help the party to mobilise more votes so that we triumph,” said Ngwira.

Notable dignitaries present at the meeting included, DPP Vice President for the north, Goodall Gondwe, DPP treasurer general, Jappie Mhango, businessman Leston Mulli and the party’s former regional governor for the north, Kenneth Sanga.

Atleast my fellow Northerners have seen the man Mulli…the one who got 11 Billion Kwacha of our tax for a dubious compensation! The patron of Mulhako! One of the catylist of Malawi Savings Bank collapse through his 6 billion toxic loan!
He has come North to fool my people into voting DPP and after the vote he will be the champion of distributing all govt positions and contracts to Mulhako! And they will be nothing for us…Northerners!
Simumati mulipo ambiri ku Mulhako? Zivoteleni mpaka mufikitse 50%!! Add all those nthumbidwa you were registering!!

Chilelawalanda mwenikombe

We don’t want DPP in North, we are tired of quota system , hunger , crime,to name few, asuch votes for northers are kept for mcp_utm alliance not thieves , we know many cannot be reached but at least if there is cheap fertilizer, many can afford to harvest hence reducing hunger among many, if rain become problem we use irrigation full stop, we need medicines in hospitals .

There are very few people in the room, probably carted from the south. How do you compare with crowds that MCP and its alliance pulls? No same northern will vote for a party that has marginalized them in all aspects of life – education, development, and employment.

Peace loving? Mutharika? What happened to his “Ndikunyenyanyenyani” approach? Has he become peace loving because he needs our votes? If he is peace loving why is he failing to come to the north “for safety reasons” as Mzomera Ngwira put it? Too late for him, game yatembenuka. Now it is our turn to tear him into pieces, we are just waiting for parliament to tell us on what date we should do that.

Malawian, Let’s just continue to pray. God sees and know what’s in our hearts. God is sovereign. He is just. Malawi is trusting in the most high God. We can plan and wgwhatever but God has the last say.
