Mutharika says ‘God bless DPP-UDF alliance’: To halt Malawi’s descent into abyss

2. Politicians use the name of God in order to tame the inquisiviness of the masses. Voitairre once said, ” If there is no God create one as a safety valve”. Do not be fooled by this God talk from Munthalika he is presiding over a corrupt and tribalistic regime. If you want God go to a good church , read your Bible and follow what it says. There is no way God can be partisan to bless DPP-UDF Alliance only and leave out the others. Just like football God does not support a team but blesses them all whether a team loses or wins.

Anyone who does not directly benefit from politics needs to take a look at themselves and think if this current government has done enough in serving the people of Malawi and not just a few individuals because of either tribal or political affiliations. It’s a shame that those that support the current government are at the bottom of the food chain and will gain nothing and continue to put their hopes on broken promises. People need to travel to other countries to appreciate how good governments serve their people.

    Mr Mia will be our second Vice President when the MCP UTM alliance win the election.

    The salary and benefits of the Vice President and the second Vice President are the same so no issues there for Mr Mia.

    Chilima is already a Vice President now so it will make sense to let him continue as the Vice President rather than asking him to be the second Vice President.

    In 2025 Mr Chilima will be the torch bearer of the MCP and UTM alliance while Mr Mia will be his running mate.

    This is a great alliance, let us support it ……and not this embarrassing DPP UDF marriage of convenience…………

21. Don’t cheat Malawians that you want to unite people when behind the scenes you are promoting regionalism. Both Atupele and Peter come from the Southern region. By coming together which people are they uniting? People of their region or Malawians in general? A combination of DPP and UDF ( Southern region) has 3 million voters. The Central region has 2.9 million voters and the Northern region has 940,000 voters. There is no way the North can give 20% of votes to the DPP/UDF alliance.

    Malawi is already a failed state and in an abyss of darkness. The country will take many many years to recover going at the present rate of deterioration.

    Once Mutharika is kicked out, whoever takes over whether SKC or LC, they should set an example by sending these DPP thieves to prison for a very long time.

29. “As you all know, we belong to one family even though we had taken different paths”. APM rightly proclaimed. Without UDF (PARENT) DPP (child) would not have been birthed. Blood is thicker than water indeed. I agree with this truth. However, the other statement that “Our goal is to unite and develop this country”. I have serious reservations because under APM’s DPP led government the past six years or so we have seen the ethnic, tribal and regional politics, which have already existed to some degree, become more pronounced and secretly encouraged. Recent public ‘threats’ by some senior presidential aide implying that ‘APM’ would withdraw developmental plans from the northern region for the people’s ungratefulness is a case in point. UDF on the other hand is not as tribalistic or regionalistic and I would agree that UDF appears more democratic as evidenced by their honourable members’ stance in the august house in supporting the ‘Rule of Law’ and abiding by the constitutional court’s recent judgement, the same cannot be said of the DPP who usually say and promise one thing only to do the opposite with much arrogance. If one of the DPP goals was truly to promote democratic tenents, unity and development of the whole Malawi, they possibly could have done it by now. Before ‘dirty politics’ corrupted the Late Bingu Wamtharika, the whole Malawi witnessed unprecedented unity and development within his first term in office (just five years!) APM’s government has been in power for almost six years now and Malawi has been ‘officially’ divided along ethnic and tribal lines. I hope that UDF will help DPP to come to their senses in terms of promoting true democratic tenets especially respect for the rule of law.

30. Peter mutharika, Bingu, Chakufwa, Gwanda chakuwamba etc were all founding members of udf then known as United front for multiparty democracy (ufmd). Bingu had personal scores with bakili but deep down they are one. Now circumstances have forced them together again. Not surprised. But the day dpp and mcp form government, I will renounce my citizenship.

38. UDF worked with DPP in a useless alliance during the period 2014 – 2019. An alliance that only benefitted Atupele Muluzi. I wouldn’t even describe that as zn alliance.

    Lets hope this time round the negotiating team will be serious. Negotiate for more cabinet, ambassadorial and other senior positions.

These two parties have ruled malawi a combination of almost 90% of Kamuzu’s years but weigh the development achieved against that of Kamuzu, it’s only 20%, so why making noise about development everyday, which development? Kamuzu established industries that could maintain and sustain our economy for generations to come. But the father of that boy sold all for a song, a song that even ended up in his pocket not in government coffers. So don’t lie you’re doing whatever you call it for malawians, you are just a grandfather and grandson in crime.

    5. Note that its better the devil that you know and trust, than the devil you don’t. Chakwera and Chilima are devils that we don’t know and surely cannot trust. The Bible mentions Satan (the Devil) appearing in various guises, well dressed too. This is the test, the second election. Vote DPP-UDF and be redeemed, in Jesus holy name, Amen!
