Mutharika should be the last person to speak about the blackouts
As a former Head of State and leader of a political party Peter Mutharika is entitled to comment on issues affecting Malawians but where does he get the courage to criticize his successor who is trying his best to clean up the mess he (Mutharika) left in six years at the helm?

For starters, the Democratic Progressive Party was in power for 14 of the 26 years that MCP were out of power.
Bingu ruled for eight years while his younger brother.
One of the reasons Malawians were fed up with DPP was the chronic blackouts under their watch.
If there was an administration which had time to solve the electricity woes it was DPP but they failed big time. Their energy was invested in self enrichment through corruption. What they call the system was in fact the deep-seated infrastructure of corruption (Chihema chakatangale).
What could have become of Malawi if all the money they stole under their watch were channeled towards growth sectors such as the energy sector which Bingu called one of his priority areas within priorities?
The devastating Tropical Cyclones which damaged the power utility infrastructure at the power generating point in Kapichira was the typical example of how neglected the sector was.
In part, the scathing press release signed by his spokesperson, Shadreck Namalomba, the immediate former President, is ready to provide technical expertise on a number of issues.
It reads: “Our President is ready to provide technical experts from Democratic Progressive Party, should President Chakwera merit it.”
While the intention to be of help to some problems affecting Malawians sounds good, the motive may be questionable. Coming from a background where they want to take credit for every government initiative, the DPP is not the wise counsel to pay a listening eye to.
There is an interesting part in the press release when they are describing their failed DPP government “able”.
The sentence says: “Instead, they accuse the then able Government of His Excellency Professors Peter Arthur Peter Mutharika of sabotaging the Tonse Government to deliver power all day without blackouts.”
If theirs’s was a prudent government as they claim, why are they finding themselves in the opposition.
If the DPP was an “able” government they should not have lost the election in the first place.
All in all, Mutharika should be the last person to criticize the man who is spending sleepless nights for inherited problems.
If Mutharika means well for this country he can offer his counsel to President Chakwera without sentimentalizing it for political gains. If anything, it is time Mutharika is reminded that he was given the chance to rule over us but he failed miserably.
Mutharika needs to be reminded also that there is only one State President at a time.
Tonse alliance promised to make right everything the DPP was failing in one year, and blacksouts where much better than this
DPP tried to make things stable. What we are seeing today is a nightmare. The writer is a liar.
The writer is a stinking mcp stooge
Wise thinking. Muntharika and his DPP cannot be solutions to Malawi’s problems. DPP were devils.
Gogo Peturo anatitayira nthawi kwambiri. Asatityitsenso nthawi apa
This report is a waste of time as it has not been written by a reporter but a political zealot. Malawi has had lots of difficulties and we want to see our leader to be trying to sort them out. The political blame game by such reporters will not take us anywhere. The power issue has had it toil through all govts beginning with the Kamuzu Regime to date. If the reporter was genuine he would have appreciated that each govt had its fair share of strategies in addressing this problem. Chakwera should do his part. Natural disasters or not, govt has the obligation to solve these problem with speed. All regimes have had natural disasters and that is why we have leaders to help go though that. The Black outs this time around are far longer than ever before. During the campaign period and the elections the Black outs had disappeared for a good while even into the first quarter of the Chakwera administration. They resumed before the cyclon. The issue here is to find solutions collectively and sort this out as Malawians. Chakwera can seek counsel from any Malawian whether he/she is from oposition, minority parties or a no body. Whether you want to shield this with your tabloid or not, anger is raging in many Malawians that will blow out unexpectedly one day. You politicians should not fool yourselves. Out of 18mn Malawians only about 4mn are active and participate in politics including elections. You therefore fool yourselves by making you opinions base on this group. Us, who are not politically affiliated but pay tax, simply want service and service fast regardless of who says what.
Leave Munthalika alone
Amen
Amen. Well said . Provide solutions.
Polititians criticism their opponents by pointing to their shortfalls without giving solutions thereby instilling fear in the electorate That is how people win elections.
I guess the author of this article has lost direction,it raises a lot of questions than answers
You the author of this article is the one you must shut up your mouth because you don’t know what you are writing about. You are biased and there is no tinge of truth in you. As much as
electricity blackouts have been the order of the day ever since the time of Bingu, Chakwera’s time has been uniquely worst. We have never experienced anything like this before concerning electricity. I think you mcp guys have become so confused and disgruntled due to your complete failure at everything and you want to be pushing the blame on innocent Mutharika. Leave Mutharika alone, he performed and is far from being your match 9 heads combined. Just look at the Afro barometer report and you will really shut up your mouth if there’s some sense in you.
Very very true
MALAWIANS WILL COUNT NOT INDIVIDUALS LIKE THE LIKES OF EZINALA CHIPETA WHO ARE PRO MCP/TONSE AFFILIATES.
Very true, I was wondering also that the DPP club is busy talking of blackouts while they are the contributor to the same! By the way these are one of the clubs that have destroyed Malawi iya!
