NAM fails to pay K40,000 to enable Malawi Queens coach attend training
Comedian Netball Association of Malawi ( NAM) will never seize to amaze Malawians following news that the association failed to pay K40,000 to enable its coaches Peace Kaluwa and Mary Waya to attend a High Perfomance Coaches Workshop in Australia where they just returned from the World Cup Tournament.
Malawi Queens coach Peace Kaluwa was quoted on Zodiak Radio that it was a lost opportunity for their failure to attend the workshop because it involved highly respected coaches from Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica where they would have learn from greats of the game on the backdrop of the sport.
“I was also surprised that all our friends attended the workshop expect us. We lost an opportunity to learn more from people who are well conversant with the game,” said Kaluwa.
NAM general secretary Carol Bapu told the radio that they were not aware that they will be that kind of a workshop hence they did not pay the fee for the coaches.
All the coaches, whose teams took part in the just ended Netball World Cup attended ,a High Performance Coaches Workshop which showcased the ‘cream of the crop’ in netball royalty with former international coaches sharing their secret in tactics, skills and drills to an audience of current and aspiring coaches.
The main focus of the workshop was also to encourage players to think outside the box, introduce them to new drills and game plans, broaden their understanding of the game and drop old habits in order to get the most out of their players.
