Ng’ambi scores again as Platinum Stars tops Absa Premiership
Malawi international midfielder Robert Ng’ambi continues to shine in the Absa Premiership with impressive performance that helped his team Platinum Stars thrash SuperSport United 3-1 on Saturday to move top of the league table.

Goals from Sibusiso Msomi, Bonginkosi Ntuli and Ng’ambi condemned SuperSport (Matsatsantsa) at Lucas Moripe Stadium to their third straight defeat.
Robert Ng’ambi should have put Platinum Stars on the lead 30 minutes in the game when his acrobatic attempt went over the crossbar.
He was then disappointed when his second chance in the 39th minute was stopped by SuperSport goalkeeper.
The opening goal finally came eight minutes after the interval through Msomi and Ntuli doubled Stars’ lead on the hour mark with a superb solo run and finish.
SuperSport reduced the deficit through Jeremy Brockie before Ng’ambi restored Star’s lead in 76th minute.
This is a second time Ng’ambi has scored for his team this month, two weeks ago he helped his side to grab three points against Jomo Cosmos in a 2-1 win.
Ng’ambi’s impressive performance comes at a time Flames Coach Ernest Mtawali has refused to guarantee him a place in the Flames’ first-choice World Cup qualifiers line-up to face Tanzania on October 7 with the second leg set for Kamuzu Stadium five days later.
He was once shunned by Mtawali when he was left warming the Flames bench during the entire 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Swaziland away in Swaziland which ended 2-2.
The incident forced the skillful midfielder to openly express his disappointment towards Mtawali’s action.
ROBERT YOU ARE A GOOD PLAYER, ENJOY YOUR STAY WITH PLATINUM STARS. DONT WORRY WITH ERNEST CHIRWALI, SOON HE WILL CALL YOU TO FETCH HIM PA PARK STATION IN JOBURG, TELLING YOU THAT HE IS SORRY AND HE IS JOBLESS AFTER NOT QUALIFYING FOR AFCON.
player ameneyu ndiwa kale wamenya M D C we need to see new blood tsopano a malawi tilibe pa bwino inu nomwe kunyoza ma coach akamatenga ma player akale akasiyanso walakwitsa which is which nanga football will never improve in malawi
Mr coach tilankhuleni
Panga chele wako ayise ku malawikuno kulibe money
King Jaffe, Ng’ambi hasn’t started working hard cos of being sidelined. Nay nay the you don’t follow the PSL. Ng’ambi has been a hot potato from the word go, at Platinum Stars since he joined from Black Leopards. Don’t be jealous my fellow Malawians whith Ng’ambi. The guy is good & he is proving it week in week out. I know that most of the Malawians especially those who are commenting negatively don’t have the previlege if watching him playing.
Enerst abwerere ku joni azikapanga zaudobadoba.
Inu where Ngambi is shining is in RSA league NOT Europe, ok? There is no football ku Joni just look at national team yawo same sinking like Flames! SO STOP TJIS MADNESS PLEASE! Time to leave these 40 years pld guys behind build new team Mtawali. Stupidity will never end from Malawi journalists.
mabvuto a ma sports writters wil never end up in malawi. mtawali is professional coach fullstop. mapwevuphweva a ng’ambiwa atikwana.
Ntawali Ali bwino
I don’t know why the coach decided to put Ng’ambi on the bench. To me I see it was a graveous mistake the coach had made. That guy is the most reliable in the platinum squad. He did well the game between Malawi and Mali at the Kamuzu Stadium. No wander we did not do well in Swaziland. Recently, his underperformance wa due to injuries. Sometimes Malawi national team is not doing well due to poor selection by the coaches.
adzimenya komweko ku flames kuli madolo achina kaliati kumwenda etc
Mtawali don’t b dogmatic
Mtawali don’t b big headed
Now that Robert Ng’ambi has started to work hard after being sidelined , am sure he will earn a starting line up and not then when he was under performing thinking that his name alone will guarantee him a starting place in the Flames of smoke. Ernest Mtawali must be commended for bringing the best out of Robvert Ng’ambi. Ng’ambi has finally realised that no sweet no sweat.
KEEP IT UP MY BROTHER CONTINUE CARRYING THE MALAWIAN FLAG VERY HIGH YOU MAKE US PROUD!
Is Ng’ambi the only professional player doing well? Why are you not wasting our time with other so called professional players like Kamwendo’s achievements wherever they are? What is your real intention here, trying to turn Malawians against Mtawali for excluding Baggio in the upcoming game? This is just petty journalism. No wonder nothing works for us in Malawi. Instead of our media trying to boost the morale of our youthful National Team by writing about them, you are busy trying to prove your National coach wrong. And you wonder why people like APM becomes immune to the media and never listens to them? Instead of being constructive, you endup being destructive in your favouristic reporting. The media can really be a pain in the a$&!
I have watched ng’ambi of late the guy is in top form and should be given a chance in the national squad.
Iwe mtawali wazivera wekha ndiye umusiye ndikutenga manyaka akowo
Truth will prevail… Football doesnt go on well with malice…lets love our country… Baggio u r the star oneday u will be honoured in ur own Land…
I’ve been telling people that Ng’ambi is a player to watch in the field of play. I started liking him after flames beat Egypt 1-0 at Kamuzu stadium, the guy showed me something which I didn’t expect from him. Coach Ernest, it’s up to you.
yaya wa ku malawi. keep it up!!
Exactly what this player needed, a wake up call! Ernest’s decisive action to put him on the bench has spurred him to go and work hard and it will be rewarded. Most senior flames players took it for granted that since they play as professionals players then their places should be guaranteed in the flames lineup or call ups. I think we must all be behind Ernest’s decisions as the Head coach when he make such big decisions. Ng’ambi in my fair view was becoming comfortable and it had to take that wake up call for him to realize that he was not indispensable. Kudos to Ernest, he has revived this player’s career by just that one bold decision, if I were Robert I would be on the phone calling Ernest to offer his thanks.
Mwala wokanidwa wakhala ngodya ya Platinum stars. Mtawali akudziva ubwana, awona polekela atamuthamangitsapo pa ukochi.
Mtawari digging own grave. I sense some jelousy.
this chap is going to cost malawian coach’s their jobs ndithu.keep on impressing baggio and show them that you dont belong to the benches indeed.all the best.
So what
I look at form, discipline and game time as main factors for one to be included in the starting line up. Or Ng’ambi atagoletsa zigoli 100 that is not a guarantee for a place in the national team. However, the door is not closed for him, let him impress me!
