No recall for Mwawi despite worries over Malawi Queens  —NAM

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) insists they will not be forced to  recall Australia-based shooter Mwawi Kumwenda in the Malawi Queens squad that will leave for Fast5 World Netball Series in Australia this Sunday despite  threats by some supporters to hold street protests.

Mwawi was expelled from Malawi Queens

NAM expelled  Kumwenda for reporting late for training.

The development led to withdraw of head coach Samuel Kanyenda who protested against NAM decision to send parking Kumwenda.

But  NAM general secretary Carol Bapu gave short shrift to the idea of Kumwenda returning to the fray.

“We’ve moved on from that. Mwawi is not part of the sqaud,” she said on Wednesday.

“The morale in the camp is very high. Our focus is on the tournament,” she added.

Stand-in head coach Mary Waya said the preparations which started on October 8, 2017 at Blantyre Youth Centre were progressing well despite some technical glitches.

“The preparations are going on well despite some technical challenges and misunderstandings.

“Currently we are doing final touches and we are happy that our players are gradually adopting to fast5 rules,” she said

Waya added that some of the players in the camp were spotted during the GOtv Fast5 tournament.

  1. Mwai don’t worry God is with you. You were doing charity work and some devils took advantage to show their hate over your good will and achievements. The Bible talks about true worship in James 1:27. Providing for the needy is very paramount, and if a person does it in good faith, God surely rewards him or her with abudandant blessings. May the Mighty worrior great in battle fight this battle for you Mwawi and may he increase your talents and shower you with more blessings in the name of Jesus of Nazareth!!!!!

Sister Mwai you are based in Aus. Go and watch the games in the stands clad in your national colours so that the whole should see how stupid NAM is. Watch the queens being humiliated by top sides without you, their inspiror, then the commentotors will say Malawi is not only the poorest in the world but also her sports admininstrators are the dullest of people in sports. Do you think if this situation would happen to Portiegger the South African prolific shooter would the South Africa Association dropped her out of camp?

NAM ADMINSTRATORS ARE VERY SICK. GO AN LOSE MISERABLY. MWAPHONYA NAWO MA ALLOWANCE A LAST YEAR AJA.

MUKABWERA KUMENEKO MANJA ALI NKHOSI WINA NTCHITO IMUTHERA..

  2. Who should Discipline players, coach or Nam secretary? In football, we’ve always heard Coaches enforcing discipline ………………………. what is happening at NAM?

  3. Abale be honest, she was late for training. If that was any other player than Mwai mukanatenga? She was doing charities, good motive but at wong time. Akanapanga plan bwino bwino. Kugawa ma uniform is not an emergency. This is not hatred, its just displine.

  4. Who is Bapu by the way as compared to 15million plus Malawi. Ask FAM. At one time Enerst Mtawali was taken from plain at Chileka Airport straight to Kamuzu Station just hours before kick off and no body FAM and the country at large complained. In fact that is what everyone expected. Akamati mzimayi ndi fiti yoyipa ndakhulupilira Apa lero. Stop this nonsense. After all we never heard that at one time you played netball. How you ate found there, leaves a lot to be desired. Stupid nepotism and politics

    1. This is not the first time Bapu and friends have done that. Ndipo nthawi imeneyo kunatsala pang’ono kuti tichoke mu top 5. Please akuluakulu, its about national pride not individual enrichment. Kutereku ayikapo kale achabale awo, take my word. Kutha kwa Queens ndikumeneku.

    2. Big up Mai bapu. No body is above the law ..instead of giving the young ones good example she was busy hanging around in town ..zamatama basi achita bwino kusiya .

  5. I am a living man and I’ve better things to do than marching in the streets for someone who doesn’t even know my name. I have one life to live and I am so economical with time, so can’t waste my time marching for something that will not even bring food on my table. No person is bigger than the team, that’s the essence of team spirit.

    1. Thats very true my bro. This Mwawi is becoming bigger than the team. She was a nobody and has gone through same NAM to get where she is. Ndiye its not on for her to be reporting late for training. Even world class players dont do that.

  6. Caro Bapu nfi nyapapi wa DPP munthu woipa wansanje Malawi Queens ikakangolephera kumeneko nthcito usiye kapolo iwe ukuona ngati Queens ndi Caro Bapu saloon eti shupiti

  7. Mwawi should just leave this cursed team. Women are at the centre of jealousy and conflict in the world.
Why is a Malawian netball superstar being harassed? Because she is a woman. Bapu has hated Mwawi all her life, and I have never heard her give a compliment to Mwawi. How do we benefit as a country? Of course we don’t benefit. Shame on the netball leaders in Malawi. Even Khungekile has joined the fray!

    1. Imwe wa Nyakumwenda, Mwawi na Bridget walekani wa chewa awo mba sanje. BASOPU MUKALUZE UKO. MUNGAYEZGANGA KWIZASO APA MPHUNO BIIII CHA.

  8. That’s Malawi where hatred still rules many. One DPP supporter at the MAM has put her foot down that there is no way this girl will keep shining under our watch. It’s sad that one can decide to sell the joy of millions of Malawians at a cheap price. So sad indeed! She was late for training yes, but for good and justifiable cause. She was uplifting the spirits of poor girls in Chikwawa. These are the Girls whom MAM officials have failed to inspire, at least not even with a spoon of porridge.

The whole world will watch the games in Australia. They will watch in two’s, three and in large circles. One will ask the other “where is Mwai?” another will say “she was dropped !” silence will follow as the two ponder on what has befallen one poor country somewhere! Yes poverty, jealousy and bitterness are partners in the business which have seen Mwai out of the squad.

  9. Caro Bapu and your friends please stop this drama, your decisions are pathetic and leave alot to be desired. You only care about shopping in Australia not the team. You still have time to do the right thing being ignorant and stubborn wont bring developmemt to Malawi Netball

  10. Reporting late for training is not an issue please. Mwawi is a professional player even going straight to the games was not an issue. Taonako ma professional a football akupita kukangosewera mpira tsiku la game. Chomwe ife timadziwa ndichakuti Mwawi mumadana naye a coach atsopanonu. Ma jealous sakuthandizani pitani mukaluze ma game onse. Mwayesa za kwanu zinthunzi koma dziwani kuti ndimisonkho yathu mukuseweletsayo.

    1. Captain Morgan, hate is most powerful of human emotions causing great sorrow as exemplified in your comment. In social psychology, those who hate a particular individual often spend much of their time fixating their anger or dislike of that particular individual. Its theme, according to psychologists, is a complete inability that the other person has any redeeming qualities or any worth pointing out, and that the person exercising the hate often unleashes oppressive measures directed against a particular individual. A person consumed by hate believes that the only way to regain some sense of power over her pain is to preemptively strike out at those she hates.
By effectively barring Mwai – one of the patriotic Malawian sports figures in the netball fraternity for no genuine reason – an element related to hatred is that NAM is justified in acting against the object of their hate. One characteristics of the hatred is the need to devalue the victim ’more and more. Then at the end of the day, victim loses all moral or human consideration in the eyes of those who hate the victim. This is all about “Mwaiphobia” – an ongoing dislike that uses significant emotional energy in the person feeling the hatred. The road to expel the player was built by hate but paved with indifference. God forbids. All the best to netball players representing Malawi on the world stage under the tutelage of Mary Waya.

  11. This team should not be managed as personal business or family affair. It belongs to the country.

    1. Much as Mwayi is a star but bear in mind that displine is vital in every aspect
Mwayi as a star should be exemplary
To reach where she is its NAM
had it bin that they hate her so much, she could nt reach where she z right now
Yes rumours say she was doing charity work but was it
      an emergency????
She could have planned this before, she is a star now coz of netball not charity work,so her focus shld be much on netball.
My advice to Mwayi, always humble urself
To the coach who deserted the training; The desicion u took was not good @ all,u could have stayed ,ZINTHU ZIMATHA NKUKAMBIRANA
c what u have done now?pempho lanu lamveka????
      Umazayamba kutaya bomwetamweta
Remember mpando umenewo though mmangogwilizira komanso pali ma potential omwe atha kugwira bho bho ntchitoyo
Rush decisions r not good, enawonso munawasiya ku camp ndi ma player
      NAM,GOOD DECISION, THUMBS UP
