Nomads climb to the top, Silver stop the rot

Mighty Wanderers have taken the top spot in the TNM Super League after dislodging Civo United who warmed the summit for 24 hours only at the weekend.

Civo United shoot to the top on Saturday after their 2-1 victory to Epac FC courtesy of Martin Masoatheka and an own goal from Mussa Manyenje.

After Saturday’s victory, Civo cruised to the summit table with 15 points but the Nomads went to the pole position after a 1-0 victory to Mafco at Kalulu Stadium on Sunday.

The Nomads, who have now 17 points, scored their lone goal through their hit-man Diverson Chilemba to be in serious contention for the title.

“Getting to the top of the league is hard but staying there will be even harder for Mighty Wanderers,” said coach Franco Ndawa.

This weekend sees Nomads invading the capital city of Malawi, Lilongwe on Saturday where they have a daunting task against Civo at the Civo Stadium.

In other matches, Silver Strikers finally stopped the rot y as arguably their best league performance for more than two months saw them beat Blue Eagles 1-0 at Nankhaka courtesy of Harvey Nkacha.

The Bankers ended their dire run after draws and loses in their last five previous matches in the League and Presidential Cup.

The win took them to third position with 15 points.
