Nyika Media Club, a grouping of practising journalists in the northern region, has donated various medical equipment to Mphompha Health Centre.
The donation was made possible with financial assistance from leading mobile network provider Airtel Malawi.
Among the equipment donated were BP testing machines, mattresses, oxygen concentrators and sterilizers.
Speaking in an interview after the handover, Nyika Media Club president Wanangwa Tembo said as media they were also concerned with the healthy welfare of people.
He called on staff at the hospital not to abuse what was received.
“Time and again you will hear that medical personnel are selling medical equipment. We don’t want this to happen here,” said Tembo.
In her remarks, Airtel’s Norah Chavula Chirwa applauded Nyika Media Club for identifying Mphompha.
She said her company is willing to work with the Club on such “great” endeavours.
