The quasi-religion Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has accused the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of seeking public sympathy and picking a war with the governance watchdog.

Fr Mulomole: DPP is seeking public sympathy

PAC spokesman  Fr Peter Mulomole was recating to  claims by  DPP top brass  that they have not been invited to  a major conference where a cross-section of Malawians will be discussing the future of the country at a hotel in the commercial capital, Blantyre.

Addressing a news conference at Crown Hotel in Lilongwe, DPP’s Vice President for the Central Region  who is also presidential advisor Hetherwick Ntaba,  DPP  secretary general secretary general Greselder Jeffrey wa Jeffrey, administrative secretary Francis Mphepo, member Ken Msonda, Minister Jappie Mhango, and legal advisor Charles Mhango  condemned the  five-plus-one conference which civil rights , religious leaders and academics will meet from Wednesday to discuss Malawi situation.

Ntaba claimed PAC had invited all opposition parties, except the ruling DPP, in the 5+1 All-Inclusive Stakeholders Conference slated for 7 and 8 July, 2017.

“Our strong intelligence confirms the evil plans where over 300 people will break into spontaneous protests around Mount Soche Hotel, the venue of the conference, with anti-government placards and messages,” narrated Ntaba who further expressed fears that the intended riots could effect a replica of the infamous 20 July, 2011 protests under which over 20 innocent lives were lost.

DPP also accused PAC of conducting itself as an opposition political party.

But Fr Mulomole said PAC invited DPP and government officials to the conference.

“DPP was invited and government is also invited and most welcome to the conference,” said Mulomole.

He said DPP were only using seeking  public sympathy dismissing claims that the body is anti-government.

“PAC only speak for the benefit of the people of Malawi,” he said.

Mululomole also  said  Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (Osisa) is the donor approached to fund the forthcoming conference and that UNDP is still funding some of its activites.

The  conference apart from discussing a report on the feedback from the Fifth All-Inclusive Stakeholders’ Conference and chart the way forward, there will be major talking points on governance situation in the country.

During the forthcoming PAC conference, economist Henry Kachaje, who is one of President Mutharika’s most acerbic critics, and  a University of Malawi speaker will make presentations  on how corruption is affecting Malawi economy.

Apparently, Ntaba and Mphepo were in the forefront misleading former president late Bingu wa Mutharika.

  1. If indeed these fools were not invited why did they attend the conference? Do you go to a meeting uninvited??? Public sympathy seekers I fear no one will sympathize with you fools.

God will fight for the oppressed while they are quiet. He already knows who are hired if there are and he will fight them and let us see if God can be defeated.

Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk koma dpp manthawa bwanji? Dausi confirmed of receiving invitation letter from PAC and announced that will send high powered delegation. So are you Ntaba and Mphempo claiming that you have not been invited? Did you really consult each other before organizing your press conference at Crown? Hope you are lacking protocol

Fighting PAC is fighting against God? Which scripture talks about this?Which religion do you belong you satan? Why is the Committee not speaking one language if God is with it? The two top men are known to belong to MCP and PP. They are using PAC to speak the agenda of their respective parties. All those who are talking in praise of PAC doing so because they know the two are their fellow party members. So DPP is not fighting PAC, but it is fighting the agents of MCP and PP. What can our country gain by supporting this PAC? We had PAC in the early years of 2000 when the likes of Father Boniface Tamani and the Gunyas were running the Committee. People could really see that the PAC was indeed fighting for Malawians not this devil committee. It will come out of this 2 days meeting with a shame face, believe me. Opposition supporters are just wasting time if they think PAC can do anything to change the regime. Let us see on Friday morning if this meeting will achieve anything for the opposition.

The dpp is finished that is why it is crying like that, we can not sympathise with them they have failed Malawians miserably. How can we say good Mutharika that you give public lecture in UK University yet our own university is closes for a year now, our teachers on strike our children staying home. Is that sensible, if he will sign agreement to get money its for Malawians but who can trust him with Chaponda Chimanga stealing public funds.

  16. Daniela Phiri says:

PAC we are with you please continue to speak for the voiceless.

  17. Mahera says:

In fact, the DPP has hired 300 cadets to cause havoc at the PAC conference. But PAC is standing for people, speaking on our behalf. And fighting against PAC is fighting against God, no one has ever waged war against God and won. DPP has miserably failed malawi. With civil servants crying foul coz of the peanut salaries they are getting, no leave grants, public universities closed, and yet it’s leader boarding flights to Europe even at a time a primary school child is crying for his right to education coz schools are closed. Malawians are really crying for entrusting DPP with leadership.
