Police arrest man accused of sex with stepdaughter
Malawi Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 21 year-old man for defiling his step-daughter at Mtandile location in Lilongwe.
Lilongwe Police Station Public Relations Officer, Inspector Kingsley Dandaula identified the suspect as Charles Hosiwa from Gumela village in the area of Traditional Authority Juma in Mulanje district.
He said the incident occurred while his wife was away for several days attending to a maternity case at Bwaila Hospital.
“Her mother went to Bwaila Hospital to attend to a maternity case from August 27 and when she got back on Saturday September 1, 2016 she found her daughter complaining about severe pain in her private parts.
“When her mother asked her what happened, the girl disclosed that her step-father had been defiling her since she was away. The mother then checked the girls’ private parts and found sperms around it and reported the matter to Lingadzi Police who referred the girl to the hospital,” said Dandaula.
He said tests conducted at the Kamuzu Central Hospital revealed that the girl was defiled. Meanwhile the suspect is expected to appear before Lilongwe Magistrates Court soon to answer charges of defilement contrary to section 138 of the penal code.
