Police nab notorious criminals in Mulanje

Malawi Police in Mulanje have arrested four suspected criminals after a series of robberies which grossly threatened people’s security in the tea growing district.

The law enforcers have since recovered seven motorcycles and other assorted items.

Mulanje Police publicist Sub Inspector Gresham Ngwira has identified the suspects as Wyson Mphepo, 24, of Lumala village in the area of Senior Chief Mabuka, Thokozani Joe, 26, from Muliba village in the area of Senior Chief Chikumbu both in Mulanje district.

Others are Chifundo Zapangani, 29, of Jali village in the area of  Traditional Authority Mwambo and Elias Matemba,40, from Mayaka village, in the area of Traditional Authority Chikowi both in Zomba district.

Ngwira said over the past months, a number of breaking offences occurred within the policing area and in response to these cases, police detectives in the district conducted an intelligence-driven operation on the night of 8 and 9 March, 2021 and arrested the suspects.

He said after arrest, police carried out further investigations and recovered seven LIFO motorcycles, two DVD players, one amplifier, one laptop and a subwoofer.

The Mulanje Police publicist said the items have been recovered at Jali and Mayaka Trading Centres in Zomba.

He however said those people who lodged complaints on the cases of breaking cases should come and identify their.

Police further more thanks all well-wishers for providing tips that lead to the arrests of the suspects.

Mulanje police you are doing fine ,not mangochi police ,even giving them a tip ,they call the suspect to run away. Mangochi ndi mbola.
