Police traffic officer who sodomized taxi driver gets court bail

Nkhata Bay First Grade Magistrate Court has granted bail to Chintheche police officer who is alleged to have sodomised a taxi driver and has since adjourned hearing of the case to January 10, 2020.

The officer, Richard Mvula is alleged to have forced the victim to have carnal knowledge with him on December 16, 2019, at Matete roadblock where he was on duty.

He was arrested the same day and he appeared before court Wednesday where he denied the charge of unnatural offence contrary to section 153 of the penal code.

First Grade Magistrate, Robert Makayika granted court bail to Mvula and was ordered to pay K20, 000 bail bond.

Makayika also ordered the accused to be reporting to the nearest police station once a week.

Nkhata Bay Police Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Pleasant Sichali told the court that the state will parade six witnesses on 10 January, 2020 when the case resumes.

“My worship, since the accused has denied the charge we will parade six witnesses when the case resumes on 10th January 2020,” Sichali said.

Exactly, this kind of words(alomwe, atumbuka achewa) divides this country into segments. This trait is passed from one generation to another. if we want to build Malawi as one nation, we have to firstly refrain these dividing words.
