Youths Should Rise Up Now, Says Lovemore Cyber Chikopa
Entrepreneur and ICT specialist Lovemore Cyber Chikopa has urged Malawian youths to take leading roles in national development, saying the time has come for young people to take charge of their future and contribute meaningfully to the country’s progress.

Chikopa, a successful entrepreneur, said this after providing K75 million in grants to youths from different regions of the country to support the growth of their businesses.
Speaking in an interview after awarding the grants, Chikopa said the initiative was established to empower young people to become self-reliant, grow their businesses and actively participate in development activities.
He said he believes young people should now seek opportunities to participate at the highest levels of society and play a greater role in shaping the country’s future.
“I know what it is like to be a youth because I am one of them. For a youth to access resources is a big challenge in the country, and that is why I thought of setting up this initiative. Through this initiative, I want to see my fellow youths growing and becoming successful in the different industries in which they operate,” he said.
Chikopa said he will monitor the businesses of the beneficiaries to assess their progress and ensure that the financial support is being used for its intended purpose.
He said the initiative is part of his broader effort to create opportunities for young people who often struggle to access the resources needed to establish and expand businesses.
Chikopa has also been nominated for the 2026 BIM Awards.
He works for Kacyber Technology, an international ICT company based in Uganda.
