PP summons suspended MP Makina to disciplinary  hearing

The opposition Peoples Party (PP) have summoned for disciplinary hearing the suspended Zomba Ntonya Parliamentarians, Patrick Makina, party official confirmed to Nyasa Times.

Makina: Meets party officials
Makina: I’m still PP

Makina was suspended as both party member and Parliamentarian a week ago after he fell out with party leaders in his constituency in Zomba district.

PP’s Publicity Secretary Ken Msonda confirmed to Nyasa Times that Makina will appear before disciplinary committee today (Monday).

“I can confirm that honorable Makina is scheduled for disciplinary hearing on Monday 11th July, 2016. But I can’t disclose the time and place of the hearing,” said Msonda.

Msonda recently told Nyasa Times that the party decided to take ‘the pain decision’ to suspend Makina just inorder to save its face in the constituency.

Makina has been accused of allegedly working with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

“His suspension is to do with his working relationship with party leadership in Zomba Ntonya constituency. I cannot comment further but let the party members in leadership positions be reminded that the party has rules and regulations to be followed and that once elected to positions of leadership we should not forget to work with the party’s grassroots who elected us,” explained Msonda.

The party’s district and constituency committees have been asking the party to fire Makina for allegedly dumping the party and working with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Alex Namame, PP secretary for Thondwe, George Gumwa, district party governor and Lucy Katumwa, district women’s governor claimed Makina stopped working with PP officials in his constituency and district long ago.

Makina insisted he is still PP.
